Goals Soccer Centres sees growth after World Cup

FIVE and seven-a-side football operator Goals Soccer Centres is developing its second Liverpool site.

The East Kilbride-based group opened its first Liverpool site on Netherton’s Park Lane in January, and will launch its second centre on Evans Road, in Speke, in December.

Each site creates about 15 new jobs and represents an investment of about £1.8m.

Goals Soccer Centres runs football leagues and targets the corporate and social sectors.

The group currently operates 37 sites and has 40 in the pipeline.

Its half-year to June 30 was badly hit by the heavy snows which the group estimates cost the business £800,000.

Overall revenues, including new sites, were up 3% to £13.27m, but pre-tax profits fell from £3.9m to £2.72m.

Managing director Keith Rogers also revealed that, despite England’s woeful performance, the World Cup has grabbed customers’ imagination and sales have improved by 3% since the tournament ended, which should mean forecasts for the year are achieved.
