TCRA opting out of state retirement plan
BLOUNTVILLE — Airport commissioners decided Monday to notify the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System that future Tri-Cities Regional Airport hires will be offered a different retirement plan.
Current airport employees wouldn’t be affected by the move, but those hired after July 1, 2012, would be, TCRA Executive Director Patrick Wilson told commissioners.
TCRS is a pension plan covering state employees, higher education employees, K-12 public school teachers, and local government employees.
Wilson said the airport could offer future employees two retirement plans with a lower matching contribution.
